Broken Day (1997)
Performance by th Crispin Spaeth Dance Group at On the Boards in Seattle.  With a live musical score by Wayne Horvitz.
I designed and built this set structure, approximately 32 feet wide by 12 feet tall.  It established a visual scale for the dancers and functioned as a landscape during the progression of the dance.
The lighting designer was able to illuminate the panels in various ways during the performance.
There is a kinetic element to this.  Near the end of the perfomance the front panels drop to the floor in an unexpectedly violent way. Crispin desired this from the start and was achieved by hinging the panels to the floor and using cable release mechanisms above.
